Boosted levels of vitamin E– Acts as an important anti-oxidant for muscle function, protecting the body cells from toxic ‘oxides’ (i.e. “combating” or “scavenging” free radicals) and protecting unsaturated fats in the tissue from oxidation. This is important for competition horses as it prevents the formation of toxic substances when muscles are working hard. Works with Selenium (another important anti-oxidant to stabilise red blood cells. Possible role in the development & function of the immune system.
