Allen and Page Fibre Pencils
Fibre Pencils are best mixed with water 15-20 minutes before feeding, this will make a soft, palatable mash that is brilliant for older horses who either can't chew as well as they used to, and so eat less hay than they did, or for those whose teeth are so bad that they can't eat hay at all, and are losing weight. Fibre Pencils can boost fibre intake in these circumstances or be fed to horses that are not in work, working lightly or ridden occasionally. They are also useful for horses and ponies who ‘heat up’ even on low energy cubes, so are effective for native ponies and good-doers needing a low energy, low calorie feed containing essential vitamins and minerals. A great complement to haylage, as they can be used to boost fibre intake, and provide vitamins and minerals, without giving excess energy. Fibre Pencils can also be a useful feed for donkeys that thrive on a high fibre, low energy diet.
